Get Involved!  Volunteer!

lego vol 1.jpg

Volunteering with AZFirst is one of the most powerful ways to get involved in STEM education and make a real impact on students across Arizona.

Our programs and events simply don’t happen without volunteers—and every role plays a part in inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers.

Whether you’re an individual looking to give back or a corporate group wanting to make a meaningful impact together, we welcome you. No robotics experience required—just a willingness to help and support students

Ways to Volunteer

From one-day events to ongoing opportunities, there's a role for everyone. Join us and make our events possible--because when students thrive, our entire community thrives.

  • Event support (setup, check-in, field reset, queuing, and more)

  • Judging or refereeing at competitions

  • Mentoring or coaching a team

  • Administrative and behind-the-scenes help

  • Corporate volunteer days for companies looking to give back as a group

Volunteer as a Mentor

With over 550 teams last year, and over 850 coaches and mentors, the need has exploded! Schools from Phoenix to Tucson to Flagstaff to Yuma are working to field teams for competitions. Our corporate sponsors are working to provide financial and facility support for our teams; however, they need adult mentors who can help organizationally and technically to succeed!

Mentoring is the process by which an experienced person provides advice, support, and encouragement to a less experienced person and leads through guidance and example. The goal is to actively share wisdom and knowledge with the students to foster intellectual growth.

Team mentors work with students to learn technical and organizational skills needed to build a robot and compete as a unified team. You will help the team design and implement a robotic system to compete in a specific competitive environment.

If you have experience or interest in any of these, you can be a mentor:

  • Engineering, Electronics, Robotics

  • Computer programming and computer aided Design

  • PR, Marketing and Communications

  • Finance and fundraising

  • Team organization and operations

If you want to mentor but don't have a connection to a team, let us know where you live and work and what are your areas of expertise
